Now that we’ve moved to a new URL, you might be wondering what new features we hinted at. There’s plenty coming soon — here’s a preview of the projects and updates we’re excited to share on Young House Love.
#1. A Young House Love Nursery: Since so many readers hoped our big announcement would be a baby, we decided to tackle a nursery makeover — not in our house, but for my sister Emily, who’s due in October. She asked us months ago to transform an empty bedroom into a cozy, functional nursery, and we’ve been looking forward to it ever since. The room has great architectural details, including a sliding track door on one side and a regular doorway on the other, so there’s a lot to work with. Before pictures are always inspiring, and this one promises a dramatic change.

We’re both excited to design a room that’s beautiful, practical, and full of personality. Expanding our own family isn’t on the immediate horizon, but a nursery makeover is a great way to flex our creativity while celebrating Emily’s new arrival.
#2. Videos, Baby: We’ve invested in video gear so we can capture projects, tutorials, and behind-the-scenes moments more easily. Expect short how-tos, quick tours, and maybe some bloopers. We also have a TV appearance scheduled, which should be fun — and maybe a little embarrassing.
#3. Our House’s History: You asked whether we’d ever heard from our home’s original owners — and last week we did. The couple who lived in the house for nearly forty-five years reached out after discovering the blog through a friend. They shared stories and memories that revealed new, fascinating layers of our home’s past. We’ll share what we learned and the discoveries we uncovered, including some of the treasures we found when renovating the kitchen (one piece was a childhood drawing by the woman who contacted us). It’s been a delightful connection to the house’s history.

#4. The Usual Suspects: We’ll keep sharing the things you love: Reader Redesigns, Burning Questions, House Crashing adventures, Design Dilemmas, before-and-afters, DIY projects, and follow-ups (for example, how we like our new bed a month later or how the edible garden is coming along). Expect more Fab Freebies and practical tutorials, like how to hang art or paint paneling. There’s a steady stream of content planned, so keep an eye out.
#5. Another Katie Bower Play Date: After our visit to Katie and Jeremy at All Bower Power — when we crashed their house and made a video together — readers wanted more. We listen, so we’ve already scheduled another meet-up and are planning more collaborative projects that highlight fun, creative home projects and friendly DIY energy.
#6. Bathroom & Basement Plans: Many readers hoped our big announcement would be a full basement or bathroom makeover, which inspired us to move those projects up the list. We’re developing a plan and saving up to start both renovations, though we can’t promise a finished project immediately. Until we begin the work, here are the current “before” shots of our basement — dark, damp, and begging for a transformation.

That’s what’s cooking here at Young House Love. We’re excited for all of these projects and can’t wait to share them with you. What would you like to see in the coming weeks or months? Consider this a suggestion box — leave ideas and requests, and we’ll do our best to include them.
P.S. Have you updated your bookmarks, feed reader, blogroll, or social links yet? If you’re still using old links, now is a great time to switch so you don’t miss any updates — we’d hate to lose any of you lovely readers.
