We have another fantastic reader redesign to share. This one comes from Stacie, the same person who created that stylish new bedroom inspired by a custom moodboard we made in May. Her bedroom update turned out so well it sparked a second makeover—this time in her boys’ bathroom linen closet. Here’s her “I ripped the door off my linen closet” story:
Once again I was inspired by the blog (and by Lesley and Jeff). Removing the linen closet doors in my boys’ bathroom was the best decision. The old doors were plain white plywood that would never stay closed, and the mess behind them was always visible.
I had to remove contact paper that was secured with almost 100 thumbtacks — those were annoying to pry out. Who puts thumbtacks in contact paper, anyway?
After some scraping, spackling and a gallon of paint, here’s the new open closet. I love it — it still feels kid-friendly but looks much neater and more intentional.
P.S. This was the perfect excuse to purge the linen closet — I found seven sets of sheets I never used. Thanks again, John and Sherry.
Thanks to Stacie for sharing another great before-and-after. The combination of natural brown and cream baskets with a bright, kid-friendly wall color is a smart, balanced choice. Bonus points for coordinating the plastic toy boats, too. We love seeing these transformations—please keep sending your project photos. And that goes for everyone: we want to see your before and afters.
