We were excited to share Kim’s freshly painted cabinets, completed using a color palette we suggested a few weeks ago. Here’s the note she sent:
I couldn’t wait to get home today and send you the pics of my new kitchen! It took me a week from start to finish (with a full-time job, two kids and two dogs) and I can’t believe the transformation. It feels like a totally new kitchen. Since I really didn’t like this room when we moved in two years ago, I never displayed any of my cherished pieces. Now I’ve pulled out my creamware pitchers and sugar-and-creamer sets to line the counters. Your suggestions were spot on, and we did it all for under $200 (including new hardware for all the doors and drawers). I used one coat of tinted oil-based primer and one coat of latex paint in semi-gloss, just as you recommended.
Thanks again for your help! I would have chosen warmer beiges and turned it into an adobe mess, so you were right to suggest the green-gray undertone. I used Behr paint color-matched to the Glidden swatches you recommended after reading your comments about paint quality. The pictures don’t do it justice — it looks fantastic! — Kim

And the gorgeous after photos:

Following our recommendation, Kim painted the base cabinets Le Chateau by Glidden and chose Stonington Beige for the upper cabinets — a touch darker than the Sand Beige we originally suggested to compensate for her kitchen’s lighting. The result is stunning. Thank you, Kim, for sending the quick after photos. If anyone else has transformed a space after a Design Dilemma or Color Conundrum, please share your before-and-after photos — we’d love to see them and celebrate your results!
