Many readers probably know that Sherry and I started Young House Love to document our kitchen renovation and keep family updated on the progress. The idea came to us one evening while walking Burger, and we even picked the name before we finished our loop around the block.
That same night I signed up for a free WordPress account, selected an existing template that appealed to me, and wrote a quick introductory post (you can still read it on the blog). That little first entry marked the birth of our blog, and the site looked something like this:

That steely blue template now feels quaint, but it was our pride and joy during the first five months of blogging. Once the dust settled in our kitchen, we started thinking about giving Young House Love a makeover too.
I picked up some basic web coding skills and, together with Sherry, designed a new homepage that better reflected our style. We updated the site with a neutral palette and clean lines that echo the look of our home. On February 16 we launched the redesigned site and haven’t looked back—though we’re always open to suggestions if you have ideas.
Given how our tastes evolve, don’t be surprised if you see Young House Love v3.0 someday. For now, we’re enjoying our refreshed home(page) and hope you are enjoying it with us.
