We’re delighted to introduce the newest member of our family: baby Teddy!

On Wednesday, April 16 at 8:51 a.m., Theodore Freeman Petersik arrived healthy and strong, weighing 8 pounds and measuring 19.5 inches. We’re completely smitten with him — Clara especially adores her baby brother and can’t stop kissing and cuddling him. Whenever he whimpers or coos, she insists on calming him, and it’s the sweetest thing to watch.

Teddy is named for my grandfather Theodore, who was called Teddy his whole life, and his middle name honors John’s maternal grandfather — Freeman is also John’s middle name. He’s already showing a fiery little personality like his sister, though his arrival was much calmer, which we’re so grateful for. We feel relieved and overjoyed that he’s healthy and safe in our arms.

Thank you all for the kind words, warm wishes, prayers, and good vibes you shared during this pregnancy. The c-section went smoothly and I’m feeling well — a welcome contrast to my last experience. Our little family of five (yes, Burger counts!) has never felt more blessed.

As for Burger, he’s staying at our house with the grandparents and is being spoiled rotten, so he hasn’t met his new best friend yet. We expect they’ll become fast buddies once we’re home. We plan to return to blogging on Monday with a slower pace as we settle in.

Just look at all that hair!
