I’m a bit of a statistics nerd, so one of the perks of blogging is watching the behind-the-scenes activity: who’s visiting the site, where they’re coming from, and why they dropped by. A fun part of that is WordPress Stats, which shows the search terms people type into search engines that bring them here.

Most search terms are predictable—“young house love blog,” “modern kitchen pictures,” and “house layout”—but every so often a query turns up that makes us laugh. Often these oddball results come from punny post titles that accidentally attract completely unrelated searches. Here are five of our favorites:
1. “ELEPHANTITIS” – Apologies to anyone actually searching for information about elephantiasis who landed on our post about Richmond’s White Elephant Sale. We hope anyone dealing with medical issues finds the help they need and that symptoms improve soon.
2. “YOUNG SUPERMODELS” – This one likely traces back to our posts covering the local Parade of Homes, where we toured newly built model homes. Those posts apparently attracted a few searches meant for fashion or modeling topics instead of real estate.
3. “N-SINK VIDEO” – A surprising number of people misspell the 90s pop group *NSYNC, and instead of landing on boy-band videos, over thirty visitors ended up at our write-up about a kitchen sink we scored on eBay.
4. “OPEN RELATIONSHIP” – For this query I picture someone seeking relationship advice who instead found our discussion comparing open floor plans to rooms with more separation. An awkward mismatch, to be sure, but at least our home design conversation may have offered a different perspective.
5. “YOUNG PRETTY BOOTY” – This cringeworthy term led a lurker to our post titled “Birthday Booty.” While it’s a reminder that the internet can produce unsavory traffic, it’s also amusing that someone ended up here via that phrase. We won’t indulge expectations; hopefully it’s a one-time detour.
Finally, a big thank you to everyone who finds our site through straightforward searches. We’re glad you located what you were looking for, and we appreciate that many of you return regularly. It’s always fun to see the surprising and sometimes funny ways people discover our content.
