When Jaime of Prudent Baby sent photos of her beautiful Los Angeles home we were eager to visit for a House Crashing feature. With a newborn in the mix we opted for a virtual tour instead—and what a charming home it is. The exterior feels warm and welcoming.

Meet the homeowners: Jaime, her husband Carleton and their daughter Scarlet, who all seem right at home in this cheerful space.

Inside, the entry features homemade silhouettes of the whole family, including the dog. A distressed wood chest by the window—found at a flea market for $35—adds character. Nearby is a cozy breakfast nook with a chair for relaxing and a mini kitchen scaled perfectly for Scarlet.

The main kitchen opens to the sunny breakfast nook on one side and the dining room on the other. Glass-front cabinets keep the space light and airy, and a bright orange mixer adds a playful pop of color.

The dining area feels lively and eclectic yet polished. Jaime found a mirror frame on clearance at Home Goods for $15 and had a mirror cut to fit. More affordable Louis Ghost–style chairs were scored on eBay, proving that smart sourcing and a clear vision create an elevated look.

The living room mixes thrift-store finds with higher-end pieces for a well-lived-in, inviting feel. Colorful upholstery, full bookcases and a toy-filled basket under the side table show this is a real family space, not a staged set.

A standout is the large gray tone-on-tone cabinet Jaime found on clearance at Anthropologie. It provides generous storage, adds visual height and brings depth to the white wall beside the large picture window.

Another angle highlights how the cabinet anchors the room while still feeling sophisticated and intentional.

A small, airy office nook sits in the background of the living room. Light furniture keeps the corner from feeling heavy while providing a functional workspace.

The guest bathroom is crisp and inviting, with a little stool Jaime DIYed for Scarlet. A glass shower door and a mirrored backsplash on the built-in opposite the pedestal sink keep the room feeling open and bright.

The master bedroom feels like a boutique hotel thanks to Jaime’s handmade king-size headboard and a bold red wall that contrasts beautifully with the deep blue headboard fabric. The result is both cheerful and unexpectedly refined.

The main bathroom is flooded with natural light and mixes vintage-inspired fixtures with modern touches. A handheld shower head with a classic look pairs with a clawfoot tub and a bright yellow DIY stool covered in Dwell fabric. The marble hex tile floor adds timeless elegance—perfect for a relaxing soak.

One of the most joyful rooms is little Scarlet’s nursery. Jaime completed numerous handmade projects here, from crocheted pennant garlands to custom window treatments and a spray-painted Ikea mirror. The space feels playful, personal and perfectly suited to a small child.

For readers who love a sourcing list, Jaime provided details on where many of the pieces came from, along with links to DIY project tutorials on her blog. Highlights include Anthropologie finds, thrift-market treasures, eBay scores, and a long list of homemade elements—from pelmets and pillowcases to headboards and nursery décor.
In short, Jaime’s Los Angeles home is a thoughtful blend of clearance finds, flea-market treasures, eBay bargains and homemade projects that together create a warm, stylish family home. Thanks to Jaime for inviting us in—her space is full of personality, clever solutions and DIY charm. What’s your favorite part? The generous gray cabinet, the homemade silhouettes in the entryway, or the bright, playful nursery?
