Snow-Covered Brick Ranch: Winter Curb Appeal Ideas

It’s still picturesque here at Casa Petersik, exactly one day after waking up to eight inches of snow. Since this was the first measurable accumulation in the three years we’ve lived here, we couldn’t resist sharing a few more photos of the beautiful white blanket that Mother Nature laid across our home.

Now that the sun is out, the pictures look even better, though they still don’t capture the full magic. “Winter wonderland” really fits. Here’s another shot of our backyard, looking charming as ever:

And here’s a view of the back of the house taken from where that snow-covered arch stands in the photo above:

That’s me heading down the stairs with my red gloves in hand — snapped before a leisurely walk around the neighborhood. Our house feels a bit like a mullet: business in the front, party in the back. The front is traditional and ranch-style, while the back feels fresh and modern thanks to the sunroom addition. Most neighbors don’t even realize we added on because it’s tucked out of view from the street.

Here’s a little snow dog I sculpted — a “Snow Burger,” to be precise:

John made one too, turned away from me. It’s funny — mine’s sitting while his is standing:

And here’s our favorite house in the neighborhood, all covered in snow. We call it “the bed and breakfast” because it’s so cozy and inviting — it even has a tennis court and a pool out back. Ooh-la-la!

We joke that we’ll die in this house, but if that bed-and-breakfast ever hit the market, we might reconsider our plans.

How about you — any snow stories to share? Is there a house in your neighborhood you’d love to own? Are you settled for the long term where you live, or do you treat your home as a temporary stop? Tell us about it.
