When Amy sent photos of her $100 backsplash makeover, we were inspired and wanted to share her story. Here’s her note:
I completed this project in about five hours and I’m thrilled with the result. I purchased nine packages of thin brushed stainless wall tiles. The tiles come with double-stick foam squares for hanging, so there was no messy grout or mortar. Some reviewers suggested using adhesive like Liquid Nails, but I preferred the option that allows easier adjustments during installation. They feel very secure once in place. The tiles are easy to cut with scissors and can be bent. I made a small cut on each side and bent them around a ruler to create a 90-degree angle for corners and to shorten tiles for the top row. That approach eliminated the need to trim around an unfinished edge. One thing to watch for is a slight grain in the tiles — you’ll notice differences in reflection if tiles aren’t oriented consistently, so I made sure to hang them all the same way. This was one of my easiest home projects ever. The full 27 square feet cost $94.77 with free shipping, and I added stainless switchplates to match, bringing the total to about $110. Thanks for the inspiration — this is my favorite project so far! – Amy

The end result is simple, sleek, and affordable. This quick upgrade works well for homeowners and renters who want to hide dated tile without a major renovation. Thanks again to Amy for sharing the before-and-after photos — now she has a chic view while cooking spaghetti.
